Systems Architect/Operations Manager
Anthony Metzger
In my current role as IT Systems Architect / Operations Manager at B&K Digital Investments, LLC , I provide our team with technical leadership and direction, pioneer new technology initiatives, design and implement complete IT offerings for customers, and resolve tier 3 issues. I also perform many operations manager roles that include team scheduling, time tracking and reporting, and general operational escalations.
Professional Experience
Systems Architect (B&K Digital) - Design and implement network systems such as Microsoft SBS, and Active Directory and network services for small and medium business customers. Implement and maintain various hardware and services such as servers, desktops switches, firewalls, web filtering, virus scanning and spam blocking. Act as a technical leader for the team to ensure correct technical direction is followed utilizing industry best practices. Perform management tasks such as scheduling time tracking and team coaching.
Sr. Systems Analyst (Healthcare Provider) - Primary responsibility is to architect, implement and maintain multiple Citrix XenApp server farms to deliver access to 20+ healthcare applications, including Cerner Labs, Epic EMR, Fastrack, and Encore. Server farms consist of approximately 5400+ concurrent users and 275 servers. Responsible for administering a 2008 R2 Active directory domain, in reference to group policy, security groups, DNS and DHCP. Currently architecting and implementing a virtual desktop initiative with the use of Citrix XenDesktop and XenServer, to deliver virtual desktop roaming capability throughout the facility. Installed and manage 16+ HP blade server enclosures with the use of fiber connected san storage and various network configurations including HP Flex 10g virtual port switches.
Systems Engineer III - Sr. Citrix Engineer (Large IT Solution Provider) - Responsible for architecture, implementation and maintenance of multiple Citrix server farms for internal and external customers with approximately 2200+ concurrent users and 85 servers. Acted as a Subject Matter Expert for Citrix architecture, and as team lead for other engineers. Created and documented server builds utilizing various tools such as: sysprep, Ghost, Altiris, Citrix IM, and various types of scripting (vbs,batch,winbatch). Maintained Active Directory Services and configured Group Policy to apply the appropriate restrictions for users. Administered windows servers, OS and Hardware for various applications both physical and virtual with the use of VMware ESX.
Network Systems Analyst, Citrix Administrator (Manufacturing Company) - Primary responsibility was to build, upgrade and support the Citrix server farm and supporting network systems. Implemented and supported a 35 server Citrix farm utilizing WYSE thin clients. Performed level 3 support, and assisted other technicians to resolve issues. Implemented and supported windows 2003 Active Directory domain architecture and implemented network equipment at remote sites for connectivity to the main site.,
Helpdesk / Telecommunications Technician (Manufacturing Company) - Provided onsite and phone support for desktop and laptop computers, software, printers and networks. Installed, programmed and supported Nortel meridian phone systems.

As Senior Network Engineer at B&K Digital Investments, LLC I design, configure, implement, and support networking hardware including routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and VPN. I provide customers with more than 17 years of network experience on multiple vendor platforms.

Network Architect (Healthcare Provider) - Lead a core team of network and senior network engineers in day to day operations of a 500 node network. Assign project tasks to individuals within the group. Act as the technical resource between the network group and other IS/Healthcare groups including the server team, security, storage, research, radiology, cardiology, and others. Design, configure, implement, and support all aspects of the physical network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless technology, vpn, firewalls, load balancers, packet shapers, and packet capture appliances. Senior Network Engineer (Telecom Company) - Worked in the frame relay engineering department and acted as a liason between FR engineering and the backbone network team. Implemented and supported the frame relay network worldwide using gigabit ethernet, OC12 and OC48 technology as the backbone. Supervised three other employees and managed projects on two frame relay platforms, Lucent and Nortel. Assisted in hiring of new employees for the team by performing technical interviews of potential candidates. Performed maintenace tasks on a 925 node public frame relay network. With my education, I have been trained in multiple operating systems and have experience with a wide variety of software. This knowledge allows me to be versatile and able to overcome any technical issue I come across.
